Spider bite helps paralyzed man walk

If you know about the brown recluse spider, you know its bite can be deadly, but for one California man, the bite helped him walk again.

David Blancarte was paralyzed 20 years ago in a motorcycle crash. In 2007, he was bitten by a brown recluse spider outside his Manteca home.

Knowing the spider can produce deadly results for its victims, Blancarte's family immediately took him to the hospital for treatment. He spent 8 months in physical therapy.

During one of his sessions, a nurse noticed a spasm in his legs and called the doctor. They proceeded with tests and learned that the once dead nerves in Blancarte's legs were reacting again. Doctors say just five days after the tests, David was on his feet walking.
